How to Make Your Install Last Six Weeks
The difference between a two-week install and a six-week install is almost never the install. It's the nights in between.
A well-fitted install should carry you comfortably through four to six weeks. When it lifts early, the cause is usually moisture, friction or product build-up at the perimeter — rarely the application itself.
Start with the scalp. Cleanse the perimeter every seven to ten days with a clarifying rinse applied on a cotton pad, not poured over the unit. Build-up along the lace edge breaks down adhesive faster than sweat does.
Protect it at night. A satin bonnet or a silk pillowcase removes the nightly friction that frizzes the hairline and loosens knots. If you sleep hot, braid the length loosely rather than tying it tight at the nape — tension at the nape is what pulls a frontal away from the skin.
Be conservative with oil near the lace. Oils belong on the mid-lengths and ends. Anything within two centimetres of the hairline shortens your hold, no matter how good the adhesive is.
Book your maintenance before you need it. A 45-minute refresh at week three keeps the lace flat and the parting clean, and costs a fraction of an early reinstall.
